Kimberley Peter
I am a design researcher, foresight strategist, and educator guided by an interest in the leadership role of design beyond products and services and fostering broader perspectives on growth and innovation for the betterment of society. I help organizations work effectively across disciplines and geographies and develop people and teams oriented toward human-centered collaborative practices and openness to experimentation.
As director of design operations with RBC Digital, I am responsible for the platform and practices that enable growth, integration, and maturity of design. Prior to RBC, I worked at IBM for many years where I designed for new technologies in data analytics, collaborative development environments, and software lifecycle integration.
My work extends beyond the private sector developing a project with Transition Toronto focused on complementary currencies and their part in sustainable communities. I am also creating space for designers and artists to talk about the impact of their work on larger societal challenges through an independent project entitled Banking on Impact. And in recent years, I have worked with non-profit organizations to co-develop strategies for navigating change and taught in the Digital Futures program at OCAD University. I also enjoy connecting, speaking, facilitating, and moderating on topics of design, leading change, and the economy.
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from the University of Lethbridge, a Master of Science in Biomedical Communications from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Design in Strategic Foresight and Innovation from OCAD University.
